Soapstars Work Up A Lather... (well two are anyway)

Recently on TV (think it was ITV) there was a programme possibly called soapy superstars... no hang on, ummm soppy superstars? superstar soapstar? We-aren't-famous-enough-so-we-are -going-to-try-etch-ourselves-on-peoples-eardrums-by-screeching -as-loudly-as-possible-live-on -tv? oh wait i remembered what it was called... soapstar superstar.

I have goosebumps just recalling its existence.

Why oh why oh why.

I mean for a start, was it because they thought they seriously could sing or because they were in a state of crisis and in an act of desperation they agreed to do this show? - either way, i wish it had never been done. Two of the 'stars' (infact, two of the 3 i had never heard of) have taken it a step further and have formed a duo making their own music together (i could so be a journalist for HEAT or something!!)
Roxanne Pallet (22) and Richard Fleeshman (16).

Truth be told it was a good publicity stunt seeing as its landed them a lot of coverage in all the magazines and celeb gossip stuff and most people seem to know about it but heres the deal (from my perspective...)

  • If you are 21 and going out with a 27 year old - i see that as fine because by that point age gaps have closed up a lot.
  • If you are 31 and going out with a 37 year old - i see that as fine also.
  • If you are 25 and going out with a 19 year old - thats ok but a bit of a cradle snatcher scenario....

  • If you are 22 and going out with a 16 year old?? Now thats just wrong. seriously. Thats like.... one at university almost finishing a 3 year degree and the other is doing GCSE's!?!?!?!? Please tell me im not the only one who sees it as a bit twisted?
I also really dont see what was so amazing about either of their singing voices. Ok so Richard Fleeshman was a little above average but Roxy.... omg. She was so annoyingly irritating from the moment that she appeared on stage. She was just this stuck-up bitchy looking girl who knew she had a great body and that she was reasonably pretty. Thing is she seemed to think of herself as Gods gift the world which she isn't (coz i am).

Watching her singing like she sounded the same as a little angel was like that moment where you complete making the most incredible tower of a sandwich ever.
The one which you lovingly filled up with layer upon layer of food and looks mouth wateringly delicious. You complete it and place the final piece of bread on the top ever so gently so that it doesnt topple over and you pick it up squeezing it down to hold everything inside it.

Then you open your mouth as wide as you can and you slowly edge the sandwich towards your mouth - salivary glands working overtime in anticipation. When suddenly...

DISASTER STRIKES. ITS ONE LAYER TOO THICK AND YOU CANT FIT IT IN YOUR MOUTH!!!!

so you calm yourself down and devise a cunning plan.
You carefully balance the base against your lower teeth and try wiggling it in to fit the top of the sandwich under your upper teeth.
When that fails, you try the other way by resting the top on your upper teeth and attempt to wiggle the sandwich in that way - then you end up dribbling so you have to stop to regain your composure.

When you resume your struggle.... on the first try as you think you just may have managed to squeeze it in.... when suddenly, without warning, all the filling flies out the other side and the dream crashes around you.
You never did get to experience the worlds most amazingly delicious tower of a sandwich and you get mad and just end up making a pathetic one in comparision which to any other person would be a tower but you know that its only like the foundations of a tower.

Understand what i mean?

Probably not! but still.. thats what it was like watching her. Not an experience i hope to repeat but one i felt like sharing.

NB/ I do not for one minute suggest that i can sing any better than those who appeared on the show - they all sing better than i do (as passengers in my car can testify) and i also do not for one minute suggest that i am bitchy about people 24/7 however i do suggest that celebrities who complain about people being mean do need a good talking to and need to be told that by being famous, they are setting themselves up in the firing line for people to form their own opinion of them - be it good, bad, horrible, bitchy, obsessive etc... - and shout it loud and clear, splash it across newspapers and blabber on about them on blogs.
