The Trip That Never Happened.

My day today started out sooo well and i was really looking forward to a crazy time staying in manchester and coming home tomorrow eve at 9pm but as you will soon find out ... things didnt quite go to plan .......

Nice and relaxed morning, wake up at 9am, packed, checked i packed everything, made sure arrangements for when i got there were all good and things like that. When i had dropped my sister off at the station earlier she told me that there were severe delays on northern line.

NORTHERN LINE:Severe delays are occurring due to an earlier signal failure at Archway and emergency engineering work at Camden Town.

Annoying, yes, but nothing i couldnt cope with coz i could just get the charing cross branch and change at camden town and get the morden via bank to euston where i would then get my manchester train.

Ok, so then my dad comes home from work early at 12.30 and asks me if i heard the news. Presuming that he was talking about the northern line i was just like 'yeah but its not too bad coz i'll change at camden'. So he then informed me that yes that was true but only if i was going to be going.

I was confused.

He then proceeded in telling me that there was vandalism on the virgin train lines signals and that trains from euston to manchester picadilly station had been delayed and some cancelled. The best option then was to step over my bag which was ready to go by the door and to check out online what was going on.

or rather, what wasnt going on.

ALL THE TRAINS HAD BEEN CANCELLED.

Virgin Trains service update following vandalism at Rugeley

Due to vandalism to signalling equipment in the Rugeley area, we are still experiencing some cancellations on the normally busy Trent Valley Main Line between Rugby and Stafford.

Following vandalism to signalling equipment in the Rugeley area, some of our services will still experience some cancellations and alterations today, Tuesday 8 November.

The following services are cancelled;

London Euston – Manchester Piccadilly

0735, 0835, 0935, 0938, 1035, 1135, 1235, 1335, 1435, 1535, 1648, 1748, 1935

I was not pleased.

I was not going to manchester.

I wasnt gonna stay out all night and have proper jokes with everyone.

I wasnt going to be able to strut around in my heels.

I wasnt going to get to see everyones rooms/houses.

I was staying home.

I then phoned yael and judith to let them know i wasnt coming and we discussed all the options but none seemed all that practical so i ended up writing to virgin trains for my refund (which when i phoned up was told wasnt a problem so thats all good...) and heading into uni for my final afternoon lecture which surprisingly wasnt bad- i honestly never expected any lecturer to come out with the stuff that he does! (the blood pressure chart and the 'sexual intercourse' bit for people on my course and who will know what i mean!!)

So whilst i sit in my room listening to music and thinking of the hardcore workout that im going to do in the morning ........ everyone in manchester is at the beginning of a really great eve. (which obviously isnt as good as it would have been had i been there :P) ..........

anyway, to finish off i thought i would show you how forlorn my bag looked sitting downstairs expectantly .......... (NB/ its only as big as it is because theres a duvet and pillow in the bag!!)
